The next four images were taken on a unofficial visit to York MPD on the 25th May 1981. Here, 55014 & 55021 await attention inside the depot.

55012, inside York MPD on 25th May 81. Although she was taken out of service only days earlier, she was'nt officially withdrawn until the 30th May 1981.

55014, on Gateshead MPD on the 8-7-81.

55015, takes a rest between duties, on Gateshead MPD re-fueling point after bringing in the 1E08 07.30 Edinburgh - Newcastle. Her next turn would be the 1S15 17.35 Newcastle - Edinburgh. 29-5-81.

55015, made it into 1982 & had the honour of working the DELTIC SCOTSMAN farewell railtour. In this shot, she is seen dumped outside the paint shop at Doncaster works minus her comemorative headcode blank in Jan 1982.

During 1981 there was one or two early withdrawals, here 55005, being one of those casualties. Withdrawn on 21 Feb 81, she stands forlornly with a class 03 shunter for company on the East side of the works. May 1981.

55006,withdrawn soon after 55005 on the 23 Feb 81, stands alone, dumped at the North end of the works. May 1981.

A small section of battery compartment grill is all that remains, this must have once been attached to either St Paddy or Nimbus judging by the small mark left by the nameplate. Jan 1982.

A Napier Deltic power unit, probably taken from 55020 or 55001.55007 can be seen in the distance as per next image. Jan 1982.

January 1982, marked the start of life without Deltics.I had to say a final farewell, so a good friend & I travelled to Doncaster in the hope we might just catch a last glimpse of these magnificent loco's.We headed off to the rear of the works & soon found a gap in the perimeter fence.Needless to say we did'nt need any invitation to enter, it was straight through & if we had been caught it would have been all worth it. 55007 then 55021 at the South end of the line up.

55010 is the third in the line, taken from the same end as the previous shot. There was a total 12 Deltics in the line up. Jan 1982
